A thorough examination is where considered dentistry starts. Your dentist looks at far more than the tooth that brought you in: teeth, gums, existing restorations, bite, jaw joints and the soft tissues of your mouth, with X-rays where they add genuinely useful information. You leave knowing exactly where you stand — and what, if anything, needs doing.
01
Listen first
Your history, concerns and anything you have noticed — sensitivity, bleeding gums, old work you are unsure about — before any instrument is picked up.
02
Assess properly
A systematic check of every tooth and the gums around them, screening of the soft tissues, and X-rays only where they change the picture.
03
Plan in writing
Findings explained in plain language, options laid out with fees, and a written plan you can take away and consider in your own time.
Good to know
Nothing is started at an examination without your agreement. If no treatment is needed, that is exactly what you will be told — a clean bill of health is a good outcome, not a missed sale.
